Open Day on September 14
There was a good roll up at the open day at the garden on Sunday 14th September. Besides two guest speakers we had several visitors interested in what we were doing at the site. Hopefully we may gain a few more members.
Our first guest speaker told us how to make Kefir and handed around different samples of the product for us to taste.
Our main speaker was Adrian Holbeck a organic gardener and TAFE lecturer. Adrian showed us what insects and pests we had in the garden and spoke on how to try and control some garden pests.
A suggestion from a visitor was that we develop a swale bed for the growing of water loving plants. This swale bed could catch water run- off from the direction of the higher ground in the area.
Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday 14th at the Garden.
The officers for the coming year were elected following the presentation of the reports.
Officers elected were as follows:
- President: Kathi Hildebrand
- Vice Presidents: Andrew Eddie, Phil Hamilton
- Secretary: Georgie Townsend
- Treasurer : John Nedwich
It was decided that monthly meetings be held at the garden at 2pm on the second Sunday of the month and we hoped we could arrange a guest speaker for each meeting.

Watering Roster for Garden
A monthly watering roster for the garden has been made up and placed in the “Sign In” Box at the Garden. If you are available to water then select one of the vacant spots on the roster and write your name in.
If you are a new member contact one of the following members: Kathi Hildebrand, John Nedwich, Georgie Townsend or Phil Hamilton, who will show you the procedure of where everything is (hoses, nozzles, tap keys, etc).
We also require people to build up and turnover compost on a regular basis. If you can assist with this duty please contact us.
Next Project for Garden
Our next main project is to construct a herb garden in one of the old bathtubs we have on site. We hope to start this project on Sunday 12th October. So bring along a herb plant to plant in the herb bed.
